Job Description

The Application Environment Engineer (Application Infrastructure) is responsible for supporting and maintaining application environments across business functions in areas such as Human Resources, Finance, Sales & Marketing, Claims, and Membership. This role involves engaging with stakeholders, performing system administration on Unix/Windows, installing and configuring commercial applications, managing various App/Web servers, and ensuring smooth integration and maintenance of application environments.

Main Responsibilities
• Perform system administration on Unix and Windows platforms, including application installations, configurations, and troubleshooting in both production and non-production environments.
• Administer web servers (e.g., WebLogic, WebSphere, Tomcat, Apache, IIS) with tasks such as configuration, security, deployment, integration setup, testing support, and troubleshooting.
• Set up and configure handheld devices and troubleshoot operational issues.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Support software upgrades, vulnerability patching, and other infrastructure maintenance activities.
• Provide after-business hours support for application releases as needed.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field and at least three (3) years of experience in software development or related fields. In lieu of a degree, six (6) years of equivalent work experience is required.
• Minimum of 1+ years of experience supporting applications on Linux and/or Windows platforms, including installations, configurations, upgrades, and day-to-day troubleshooting.
• 2+ years of experience in Web Server Administration on platforms such as Oracle WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, Tomcat, Apache, or IIS.
• Knowledge of database SQL querying and system administration skills, along with scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, Perl, or Unix Shell.

Desirable Skills
• Experience in process automation using DevOps tools such as Jenkins and Ansible.
• Experience working with JIRA.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and best practices.
