Job Description
The Senior Application Environment Engineer (Revenue Cycle) is responsible for supporting and maintaining application environments for Revenue Cycle applications, including Optum Assurance, Optum Claims Manager, 3M 360 Encompass, and custom-built platforms. This role involves engaging with stakeholders, overseeing claims jobs execution, managing claims and remits files, updating technical documentation, conducting maintenance activities, and troubleshooting complex issues. The Senior Engineer also provides technical guidance and coaching to junior engineers.
Main Responsibilities
• Perform system administration on Windows platforms, including application installations, configurations, and troubleshooting in both production and non-production environments.
• Oversee healthcare claims jobs and scrubbing processes, adjusting job schedules as needed.
• Create, maintain, and execute scripts to split and route healthcare claims and remits files (835/837/277) to downstream systems.
• Reconcile issues with claims and remits files (835/837/277) at the server level.
• Triage and troubleshoot Revenue Cycle applications and infrastructure/environment issues.
• Support application upgrades, vulnerability patching, and other infrastructure maintenance activities.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Provide after-hours support for application releases.
• Offer technical guidance to junior team members.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field and at least five (5) years of experience in software development or a related field. In lieu of a degree, eight (8) years of equivalent work experience is required.
• 4+ years of experience supporting Windows-based applications, including installations, configurations, upgrades, and day-to-day troubleshooting.
• 1+ years of experience supporting Revenue Cycle applications (e.g., Change HealthCare Assurance, Optum Claims Manager, 3M 360 Encompass, or similar).
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Perl.
• Working knowledge of SQL querying.
Desirable Skills
• Experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins and Ansible for process automation.
• Experience working with JIRA.
• Understanding of healthcare claims and remits files (835/837/277) workflow and processes.
