Job Description
This senior level individual contributor is primarily responsible for managing the development of the IT strategic technology direction for the applications domain, as well as for executing the architecture process for application solutions to enable business and IT stakeholder strategic goals. This contributor should fully understand the EA discipline identifying challenges and opportunities with recommendations on how to advance and mature the data & analytics domain with technology rationalization, new technology to defining patterns helping accelerate adoption, and working with teams to define roadmaps. Additionally, the contributor should and have extensive expertise in the applications domain (e.g., app rationalization, app modernization, app standards, Agile methodologies, DevOps, Microservices, SaaS, ALM, SOA, app performance management, UX design, app development with languages such as Java/Python/.NET/JavaScript, mobile app development, low/no-code citizen developer platforms such as Microsoft Power Platform, mainframe modernization, app architecture).
Essential Responsibilities

- Defines and promotes application standards, guidelines, and statements of direction which enable business and IT stakeholder goals.
- Reviews, updates, and governs application standards and strategy
- Works with app owners/managers on app categorization, status changes, and standards conformance.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop comprehensive application strategies that are aligned with KP’s business objectives and security requirements.
- Deliver key reference architectures for applications using proven technology standards and solutions
- Develop and maintain application technology roadmaps to deliver services and solutions that are aligned with required business capabilities
- Partner on investment proposals to ensure alignment with enterprise strategy, standards and solutions. Deliver a complete assessment and recommendation highlghting key architecturally significant items and potential risks.
- Evalute emerging application technologies to identify innovation opportunities
- Creates architectures for large scale enterprise technology solutions by collaborating with other architects to develop the target state.
- Collaborates with project teams and business users to create architecture artifacts (for example, logical, conceptual, physical) to guide detailed design.
- Champions and influences adoption of new high-impact technologies by researching technical trends and developments.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to determine the selection of application technologies.
- Collaborates with IT and business leadership and participates in making decisions regarding new technology.
- Demonstrates a full understanding of the architecture best practices for assigned domain(s) and educates others throughout the organization on the function of architecture methodologies, governance, and standards by serving as a subject matter expert across business and/or IT teams, and presenting to internal and external audiences, including senior leadership.
- Develops and communicates reports for executives, business leaders, and IT management to communicate the impact of architecture practices.
- Develops and establishes architectural best practices and principles that guide the design of technology solutions.
- Contributes to the development of the architecture strategy and technology direction by providing domain knowledge on solutions and technology.
- Provides expertise and shares an understanding of current capability gaps, architectural gaps, and market and industry trends that can be used to set future direction.
Minimum Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, CIS, Engineering, Business, or related technical field and Minimum eight (8) years IT experience delivering technical solutions, including at least Minimum four (4) years working on projects related to IT architecture. Additional equivalent work experience of 3 years may be substituted for the degree requirement for a total of 11 years.
- Three (3) years SME experience with the applications domain (e.g., app rationalization, app modernization, app standards, Agile methodologies, DevOps, Microservices, SaaS, ALM, SOA, app performance management, UX design, app development with languages such as Java/Python/.NET/JavaScript, mobile app development, low/no-code citizen developer platforms such as Microsoft Power Platform, mainframe modernization, app architecture).
- Two (2) years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above)
- Two (2) years experience establishing and documenting strategies, standards, guidelines, and best practices.
- Two (2) years of experience influencing enterprise scale decisions, and partnering with stakeholders in Fortune 500 or equivalent.
Additional Requirements
- This contributor should have familiarity with the concept of business capability models, as they are key to proper app categorizations. Experience categorizing applications into structured business capabilities. Experience translating user experience journies into supporting technology architecture.
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year supervisory experience.
- Two (2) years experience with modeling techniques (e.g. C4, BPM, UML, ER).
- Three (3) years experience translating solution requirements into technical architecture requirements.
- Three (3) years experience in a leadership role of a large matrixed organization.
- Four (4) years experience architecting, designing, and implementing enterprise-scale solutions
- Two (2) years of cross-domain IT architecture experience.
- Two (2) years experience working with Enterprise Architecture frameworks, such as TOGAF or Zachman.
- Four (4) years experience working with an IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework.
- Two (2) years experience with commercial off-the-shelf package integration.
- Two (2) years data architecture experience.
- Two (2) years infrastructure architecture experience.
- Two (2) years information security experience.
- Two (2) years experience working with health systems.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, CIS, or related field.
- Three (3) years experience working with IT vendors.
- Two (2) years experience working with emerging technologies related to application-layer solutions
- Two (2) years experience working with Azure Platform, Confluent, Boomi, Apigee
